The Expulsion of Tony!

Getting rid of the unwanted that is Cancer

gap filler (April – September)

I am going to give just an outline of the activities I/we did during this time, I was determined to get on with things despite the loooooong wait for referral and I do love to live life to the full and you cannot let the threat of Cancer stop you from getting on.

April – As I said earlier this was the month where I told Kingy’ I thought I had Cancer, I am no doctor but I know my body so pushing forward became a thing. April is the time for our annual trip to the Goodwood Race Circuit for the Members Meeting. Loads of racing, lots of cheese on toast, time away from the shop, time to recharge and most importantly lots and lots of daffs.

Time for a trip for me and George. For 7 years I was on my own with my George and it was the best time of my life, I absolutely loved spending time with him. I lived on egg on toast for 7 years (true story) to make sure he had everything he needed and I saved enough money to take him away each year. We went to Egypt; Morocco; Paris; Barcelona and Rome amongst other fabulous places. Not just for the fun stuff but for the history, the culture, we laid on the grass at the Louvre to count the gargoyles, ran across the sand to the pyramids, trekked through parts of the Atlas Mountains, feel in love with every aspect of Rome, just me a young child.

I taught George to look up, to look further than the end of his nose, we just had the best times and decided we would like to visit Paris again (in Olympic year), him as an adult me as a proud parent. Who knew all those years later he would go onto to secure a scholarship and study Latin in the US.

May – mid July was about the shop, socialising with friends, Sunday runs, looking for sunny evenings and failing (no need to talk about the British weather). This does not sound like a lot but actually being in the shop, seeing friends and customers, watching the flowers grow outside and around the shop, evening walks (and runs), seeing our friends for meals was a great time and typical of our summers. Tony could always be found in the shadows but I learnt to stand in the sun.

But then it was July 19th – my 60th birthday and that is so worthy of a blog of its own.

Can I just remind you and I am not here to worry you but if you have a persistent lump, are peeing more, have blood in your poo, change in a mole, sudden weight loss, any changes you think are not right that you get it sorted and just keep at getting an appointment or a referral. It could be nothing but it could be something that leads to a Blog.

  1. One of the MANY things to adore about you is your capacity to look for the rainbows through the rain Dotty. Xxx
